Poetry list
A sonnet of one direction
Can this be true – that life is but one way –
A start to finish line quite clean and bare
In stark succession set – like night to day?
For that’s the way it seems to mind and care:
We build our lives and set our clocks to form
The irreversible and destined path –
Our bodies frail and finite to death’s storm
Which breaks upon us like avenging wrath.
There is another view where sums add up
To make a different total of our lives
Including death’s strange call to drink and sup
Beyond, behind, within the myst’ries hives.
These hum and swarm with spirit’s life that sees
All lives and loves and loss as ever bees.
