Beauty's benison ~ a sonnet

Does habit take away our freedom true
If unaccompanied by risk and chance
Which comes from others and their point of view
Ignored so often after fleeting glance?
This life of limits feels like prison’s cage;
It’s more we want with neighbours serving needs,
A world where self is writ on every page –
My eyes are shut to those whose difference bleeds.
Yet life can well anew in any form
Through change that meets us all in certain grave.
Our bumpy fragile lives beset by storm
Are precious notes on love and beauty’s stave.
This hope is ours in life though short or long:
The singer loves us – we’re his endless song!
