Notes to eternity ~ a sonnet
‘Tis commonplace for music to be played
As background sound to daily chores and rounds –
The wordless realm part hid, a mindless aid,
To counter dull neurotic task filled grounds.
This topsy turvy truth is rarely proved
By quest for why we’re here and what we’re for.
We wander through this life as if removed
From what is real and lasts for evermore.
My love you are the music of my life,
And still beyond the grave you dance and sing –
Completing, holding, sharing every strife
As mind and soul resound as one to ring
In music’s ecstasy of which we’re part:
All falls away – we’re claimed by love’s true heart!
