A sonnet of severance
The stone that skims the water needs such speed
To bounce and hurtle on before the plunge.
I feel like this on days impelled by need –
Detached and hard unlike the grief–filled sponge
Which fills and weighs my heart with my lost love
Who burns and fires my days as ever was.
Yet now both close and far – and way above,
The links are frail, no certain cause – ’because’.
So now I live in two worlds, mine and hers,
And both feel strange – uncharted, depths unknown.
The focused life and light for ever blurs
To open myst’ries lifting earthly stone:
There is a part than can endure apart
Because true love is love that fills the heart
